Indulge Apartments -The Urban Collection

The VAULT! Oh my god, that vault is so bloody cool, almost outrageous. It's worth a trip to Mildura just to stay here. The doors open onto the Main Street, and the location is perfection. The urban vault room is easily one of my all-time favourites. The photos don't do it justice. It's huge, gorgeously designed, and has loads of space in every room. The bed was super comfy, and multiple air cons kept every room comfortable. That double shower is so indulgent and beautifully designed, and the bath is like a boat, big enough for fifty angry sailors. They've thought of all the small conveniences too: a washing machine with a dryer, a fridge that fits everything you need, a proper kitchen for cooking, and coffee MUGS instead of tiny porcelain things fit for sparrows. Thank you!

The direct-booking price looked reduced for three nights, with no housekeeping, but I didn't realise a 3% credit card surcharge would add another $15. I usually book through Hotels.com, where I've never been charged credit card fees, and I won't book direct again. The fee was buried at the bottom of a long email. It should be shown beside the outstanding balance. Putting the fees into the advertised website price would make the cost transparent for everyone.

We stayed at the Urban Collections Number 2 Chamber, and it didn't live up to the luxury impression. The place looked tired and lacked luxury finishes. The bed wasn't king size and had one old, fluffy cushion, so it wasn't very comfortable. The kitchenette sat right beside the bathroom, divided by a glass screen. There was a Nespresso machine, but only two pods, and not enough milk. There was also no way to foam it. The walls were so thin we could hear our neighbours using the loo. The building could be amazing, but it needs more attention to detail and luxury.

The bed was comfortable, the towels fluffy, and the big bath was beautiful. We had trouble with the hot water, but a plumber sorted it out promptly. The place was clean and I'd consider returning at the good price. My eagle eye spotted a couple of things in the kitchen, though. The cupboards are quite new but still have sticky sticker residue and need a proper builders clean, maybe a wipe with white spirits. The protective film is still on the range hood too.
