Sandors Motor Inn

This is a classic budget stay, very basic inside. We had a family room on the second floor and had to haul three suitcases and more up the stairs. I don’t understand why family rooms aren’t on the ground floor. The rooms were clean enough, but quite dated. Parking was awful, with few spaces and barely enough room to open car doors. The dents in the fence say it all. Service was below par too. A line of people was waiting to check in, but there was no staff member at the desk, so we had to look around the motel for someone. The price was reasonable, though you get what you pay for, and the location was good, within walking distance of plenty of restaurants and the local CBD.

The outside setting with its tall palms wasn’t bad, and breakfast was okay, though simple. The toasters took ages to make toast, and some uncovered tables were dirty. The dining room and bar advertised at the hotel were shut and dusty. We were told there were new owners, but the room was very tired. Floor tiles were broken and lifting, and the room was very dirty, with an unwashed floor and dirt and dust around the windows, skirting and behind the bedside cabinet. The toilet bowl was clean, but the rest of the toilet was disgusting. The small, old fridge didn’t work properly and froze up half the contents. We stayed four nights and the room wasn’t serviced at all. The bins weren’t emptied either, which felt very unhygienic. I’d give this place a wide berth.

The room was tidy and clean, with enough space for the family, and the pool was awesome. Housekeeping and Imran at the front desk gave great service. Sorry if I’ve spelled his name wrong, everyone was friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely stay again, highly recommend.

We stayed here once a few months ago and found it dirty and run down, but options were limited when we came through town late this time. We paid online, then the owner refused to let us check in after taking our money. At 9:30 pm on a Friday, a man called from an unknown mobile number demanding my credit card details. I wasn’t going to give them to him. He was rude and horrible. We asked for our money back if he wouldn’t let us check in and were told no. We followed up through a third party and got the refund, but a warning to everyone: this place is dodgy!
