Clouds Montville

We came for a night away to visit the restaurants and cafes in the Malany region. The cottage was private, the bed was comfortable, and the shared pool and ping pong table were nice to have. The room was spacious, with a large shower area, balcony and spa, but the service and upkeep were poor. There were insects wandering around, including three small spiders, and cleaning was patchy. Bugs were stuck in the skylight, floor edges hadn't been vacuumed properly, and the wine glasses looked as if guests had washed them. There was also an old A4 sign from the Covid days. The spa was the worst part. After filling the bath and waiting a long time, we pressed the button and heard it but nothing happened. A few tries later it suddenly started, spewing what looked like tree seeds and tiny bugs into the clean water. We emptied it and refilled the tub for a plain, disappointing bath. The dimmer above the spa flickered like a strobe, so we turned it off and used a bedroom light instead. There were biscuits alongside the usual cheap instant coffee. This place could be great, but the hospitality is lacking. It needs a major clean and maintenance overhaul to reach a four or five star standard. I didn't take any other photos, but I felt the owners should know so they can improve things.

The room was clean and tidy, but it was hard to get hold of anyone. We tried calling and emailing several times without success. We were put in the disabled room, and although breakfast was listed on our confirmation email, there wasn't any. The room above us had loud banging through the night and again from 5am. The pool was dirty, and the woman who gave us the keys was unpleasant, just telling us to go.

The leafy location and comfortable bed were good, and thankfully the bath, sheets, towels and working TV were clean. The rainforest cottage had a lot of potential, but it was dirty when we arrived for our one night stay, meant as a surprise for my husband. There was poo on the toilet bowl and seat, urine on the floor, food on the kitchen bench, sticky marks on the table, and so much dust on the floors my feet turned black. The place smelled musty too. There were no cleaning supplies or cloths, just a smelly tea towel and three dish liquid sachets, so we cleaned it ourselves with antibacterial wipes I'd brought. How are guests meant to wash dishes without a cloth? The amenities were sparse. The fireplace shown in the pictures wasn't there, and the tiny barbecue was dirty. There were no cleaning tools and only the bare minimum of bath products. Bring everything and don't expect much for the money. Reception was friendly when I booked, but impossible to reach for our weekend stay, which I imagine is their busiest time. The booking and check in information was poor, there was no guidance on what's in the rooms or what to bring, and the website didn't work. Such pretty units, but poor management and cleaning seem to be ruining them. It's a shame.

No one replied to the several emails I sent before our stay, and reception wasn't staffed. We also got a reminder saying we'd be charged if we didn't wash up and empty the bins, yet arrived to kitchen bins that hadn't been emptied. There were hair clippings around the bathroom sink and poo left in the toilet. This accommodation was incredibly disappointing, nowhere near four star and not worth the price. I would never recommend it.
