Bayview Harbourview Apartments

We didn’t need the car because everything was so close. The room was well equipped and comfortable, and the apartment was clean and roomy. It’s an older style, but very good value, with attentive, efficient service. The receptionist and staff were especially friendly and helpful, making a lovely first impression. Everything about the hotel was exceptional, and I was very pleased with my stay. I hope to return for a longer visit.

Save your money and stay somewhere else. The room was dirty, and two of the five light bulbs didn’t work. Cutlery and cooking utensils had been put away as clean, but were dirty and had food scraps on them. One of the two pots had what looked like burnt mashed potatoes just chucked in the cupboard. The aircon never worked and only dripped water down the wall. We got a bill for that, which we refused to pay. Bubbles came up through the floor when we showered, making it slippery and dangerous to get out. Foxtel was supposed to be included in the price, but never worked. There were dirty needle wrappers in the garden. We were told they’d come and look when it was suitable for them to do so.

The back gate by the pool made getting to the beach and nearby bus stop really easy, and Coles is only a few hundred metres away. We stayed six weeks, and the apartment worked well for everyday life: the kitchen had plenty of cookware and dishes, plus a fridge, microwave, oven and dishwasher. There’s also a washer and dryer, so rain wasn’t a problem for laundry. Naomi changed the sheets and towels each week. The layout is thoughtful, even if the building itself is older. Bedrooms and bathrooms sit apart from the living and dining space, which gave us a quiet place to rest. The living room opens onto a roomy balcony, and the large windows brought in good light and air. Our lower-floor unit had no direct ocean view, but that meant we could enjoy the morning sun on the balcony without the chilly sea breeze, unless it was raining. The toilet is separate from the sink and shower, which was handy when several people needed the bathroom. A group of young athletes staying for a competition were noisy when they arrived, but Naomi dealt with it quickly and they settled down. The price was very reasonable compared with nearby options. Some fixtures could use an update, and the Wi-Fi was occasionally patchy, though neither got in the way of a good stay.
