Country Moree was the best place I could have asked for during my six months in a rental apartment, and I’d highly recommend it to corporate and government personnel. The resort was secure, well maintained and well managed. Maureen and Matt’s dedication and hard work are what have made the place what it is today. Managers Kirsteen and Paul were fantastic, and Gerard and his family, the owners, were incredibly accommodating throughout my stay. It was an amazing experience.

After a long drive, the mineral pools were just the thing, and they stay open until 10pm. Our room was perfect and spotless, with a fridge/freezer, tea, coffee and milk. I just wish it had mugs instead of cups! Parking behind the locked gate felt very secure. Trailer and van spaces are limited, but can be booked ahead. We also had a nice meal at the Asian restaurant across the road. We’ll definitely stay again.

The staff were friendly, and the location was fantastic, with lots of essentials within walking distance. But this was by far the most expensive motel of our trip, and I was really disappointed by how unclean the room was. There were big brown marks on the towels, mould around the sink and shower, and marks all over the bathroom sink. The tiled floor clearly hadn’t been mopped, with human and dog prints visible. We stayed overnight at The Phoenix during a week-long road trip, in a pet-friendly room with our two cats. They’re used to long drives and pet-friendly motels, but as soon as I opened their crates they hissed and growled and wouldn’t come out. When I checked the room, I could see why they were acting so strangely. My cats and I were glad to move on the next day.

We were coming from the Gold Coast and booked at the last minute based on earlier reviews, hoping they’d be right. They were! The rooms were beautiful, clean and fresh, and the service was excellent. We called to ask about an early check-in, and it was no problem. There are plenty of great-looking restaurants within walking distance too. The whole experience at The Phoenix was amazing, and it’ll be our go-to for future trips to Moree.

We’ve been staying here for 40 years on our way between Brisbane and Bendigo, and it’s a pleasure to see the new management up and running again. The rooms have been refurbished, the paint refreshed throughout and new security gates installed. A soak in the three artisian pools and cold plug pool leaves us feeling refreshed after the trip.
