Kalganyi Holiday Park

The location is great, with Woolies next door, and the split system worked a treat on hot summer days. I know the caravan park is under new management, so hopefully it can be turned into something awesome over time. When I arrived at 3pm, nobody was at reception and I had to call a mobile number to check in. The cabin I booked was average and fairly clean, but the linen had seen better days. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, the double felt smaller than standard, and the bunks seemed unsafe, with no top railing and a hard-to-use ladder. The park must have been great in its heyday, but it needs a lot of maintenance. The gardens were overgrown and the playground rusty. Hopefully the new owners can bring this tired park back to its potential.

Our three-bedroom villa was comfortable and well appointed, and we'd stay here again. The kids swam in the pool while we spent most of our days out touring. There was no WIFI, but that wasn't a problem for us. The games room was closed for repairs, though the new owners are trying to refresh the facilities. The shopping centre right behind the park was very handy.

When we left, I raised the problems with the owners again and they refunded one night's stay. I'd first told the new park owners on day one, but during our three-night stay the toilet door locks still weren't fixed and the toilets weren't cleaned at all. The amenities were unclean, only one of the two female toilet doors shut, and the men's urinal was out of order. The BBQs were out of order too. Lawns were overgrown and unkempt, and exposed plastic in the children's playground was a tripping hazard.

We stayed for a few weeks on an en-suite site. The en-suite was very dirty, so we had to clean it ourselves. It was dusty, had spider webs, a poor shower and very low water pressure. Grass around the van was so long I mowed it myself. The park was dirty, grass overgrown, and the BBQ was filthy and never cleaned. We told the office, and they said people should clean up after use, but there was no cleaning gear there. After a few days, the grass died and turned to dust. The managers were laid back and didn't want to know. Cleaners drove around the park at about 40 kls hr, even though it should be 5-8 kls hr. The pool wasn't kept well, and they didn't know how to treat it. Nobody came to check whether toilet paper or shower curtains needed changing. I'm never going back. They only deal in cash, so they don't pay taxes.
