Motel Mount Gambier

The two cleaners were lovely, and they offered me another room, but everyone else had already gone out for the day, so why move then? I checked into a dog friendly room, and when I went to lock the door before going out to dinner, the whole door barrel spun and popped open. I went to reception to ask if they could fix it, but they said not until morning. So much for my night out, I stayed behind while the others went. The next morning there was still no one to fix it, and everyone else had already gone out. When I finally spoke to management, she yelled at me on the phone, said I’d broken the lock, and wouldn’t let me get a word in. She was very rude. I asked for a refund, and she said, “why would i refund you, we lose money, you broke lock.” In the morning I also found peeling ceiling paint all over me. The furniture was very outdated, and the TV was so tiny that watching on my phone was better. Stay clear unless you want to be treated very unfairly.

Check-in was smooth, parking was easy, and the place had a quiet, relaxing feel. It’s conveniently located for shops, restaurants, and popular attractions around Mount Gambier. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, well maintained, and had the essentials for a pleasant stay. For the price, the quality and comfort were better than I expected. Motel Mount Gambier is a dependable, budget-friendly option for families, couples, or short business stays, with good value that doesn’t come at the expense of cleanliness or convenience. Highly recommended.

The friendly staff were another plus, and I was glad there was a toaster and kettle. I wasn’t expecting much from a “cheap motel,” so the clean, fairly spacious room was a pleasant surprise. The bed was very comfy, and the shower was huge, bigger than the one at my house. I even liked the bathroom’s dated look, the tiles felt nostalgic. I’d definitely stay again if I’m ever back in the Mount.

We couldn’t get the smell out, even with air freshener. Three rooms had an overwhelming odour of vomit and dogs. Some guests went outside in the cold just to air out their rooms and get a break from the stench. When we told reception, the immediate response was simply, “it does not smell.” Dismissive and unhelpful. I’ve stayed at several dog-friendly motels while travelling from Sydney to Adelaide, and this was by far the worst and smelliest one I’ve ever stayed at. I’d avoid it.
