Park Hotel Mount Gambier

The room itself was nice, though its unusual bathroom layout has the shower and toilet tucked behind walls without doors separating them from the bedroom. The main problem was the AC on a very hot January day. It used a remote, but the temperature was set and couldn’t be adjusted, so we sweltered through the day and night. We complained several times. Staff came to the room twice, agreed it was hot, and were very sympathetic, but couldn’t fix it. The manager was supposedly contacted, and we were offered a free drink at the hotel restaurant.

The shared kitchen has bacon, eggs, bread, and cereal supplied free for each room, which is really good to have available, though we didn’t use it. My brother and I stayed in the Pierce room for two nights. It was clean, comfortable, and nicely equipped, and being above a sports bar didn’t affect us at all. I’ve included photos of the shared kitchen.

After a long drive, the jacuzzi bath was a lovely bonus. Our room was large and newly renovated. Mount Gambier Hotel makes a great stop-over when travelling the Great Ocean Road.

That was hands down the worst lunch I’ve had. The $30 Smokey brisket burger took an hour to arrive, and I couldn’t bite through it. Huge disappointment. I felt sorry for a tradie on his lunch hour who was trying to eat the same thing. Even the chips were crap. No refund was offered. Do yourself a favour and travel a bit further to maccas. Five thumbs down.
