Nightcap at Barkly Hotel

We usually enjoy staying at Nightcaps, so this was a real shock. The room was dusty and dirty throughout, with mould on the peeling walls, cobwebs, a dirty shower and carpet, and hair in the fridge. The toilet hadn't been cleaned, and fingerprints were still on the flush button. There were only two thin sheets and no blanket. Pre check-in didn't save time either, since we still had to check in on arrival. Honestly, sleeping in the car might have been better. Pay another $20-30 and stay somewhere else.

Nothing seemed to work here, and the place was filthy. The pool was disgusting and unusable, the washing machines were all broken, and the gates could open and close without a key, which didn't feel safe. We could have slept in our car and saved $566 for two nights. Never staying here or recommending it.

Good enough for what it cost. I left my Yeti bottle behind while heading up to Darwin, and they mailed it back to me. Really appreciate the service, thank you!

That bed was amazingly comfortable, and the room service steak was the best one I had on the trip. The bamboo cutlery was a bit of a problem, though, so I ended up eating it with my hands. The accommodation itself was basic but did the job for a business trip. Getting my suitcase up to the third floor was a struggle, as there's no lift.
