The Tree Motel

We had a very disappointing stay. The mattress was hard and the pillows were flat, and there was no communication when I tried to report problems over two days, including through the after-hours number on the reception door. The bathroom and toilet area were poorly designed and maintained. The shower floor felt slippery and slimy, and water pooled in the shower instead of draining properly. A running tap made noise and wasted water. There was also a glass shelf sticking out into the standing space by the sink, and I hurt myself on it.

We got lots of scam messages on WhatsApp before the stay. The room was very basic and looked older than the photos. The fire alarm went off at 4:30, and it was very noisy.

The room was a bit old, though I didn’t expect much from a motel in a small town. Check-in was unusual and a little complicated, but the location was fine.

Room 03 was okay, and the on-site staff member was excellent when I happened to meet her cleaning rooms at 10 am. She helped move me to another room for the second night. The motel management, though, was impossible to reach. I got no reply to four emails or several calls to reception, including a message I left, and nobody contacted me the following week. I have no way to ask for part of my booking fee back despite the room problems and lack of communication. Management service gets zero. I can’t recommend this motel. The first room’s mattress was awful, low and clearly due for replacement. The shower was cramped for an average-sized adult, and there was very little space around the toilet. The whole bathroom needs to be replaced. In the morning, the power points stopped working, so I couldn’t boil the kettle, use the TV or microwave, or charge my phone. The air conditioner didn’t work either, though there was a heater because management knew about the fault.
