Russell Falls Holiday Cottages

We only planned to spend two of our five Tasmania nights here, but it was so good we extended the stay for all of them. It’s a quiet, uncrowded spot in nature, and the national park hikes are just a 5-15 minute drive away. Facilities are excellent: warm showers, a huge shared bathroom and toilets, a kitchen with a fridge, and two big communal BBQs that were never busy. Dan and Kay were phenomenal. When our Tesla wouldn’t charge, they helped us move to another spot, lent us pillows, and were lovely in every way.

There’s a large local river along the back of this picturesque caravan park, and the setting is absolutely beautiful. The bathroom facilities are new, modern, and clean. The laundry is great too, with a microwave beside the bench for everyone to use. It’s a good base for a few days riding Maydena, about a 12km drive away, or spending a few days at Mount Field National Park, which is right next door.

We’ve tried free camping, hip camping, and caravan parks in our campervan, and this is easily the best campsite in Tasmania. The grounds by the river are sensational, and Russell Falls is a short walk away. Booking was easy, and the communication was friendly and accurate. The toilets and showers are huge and spotless. There are powered and unpowered sites, eco huts, cabins, a breakfast food van, and plenty more. Don’t miss it.

Rain made staying in a tent impossible, so I booked one of the pods for a couple of nights. It turned out to be such a peaceful, beautiful place that I didn’t want to leave. The landscaping is immaculate, the layout is well thought out, and the river wraps around two sides. The managers were kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Sleeping in the pod felt like being tucked into a cocoon. What a fantastic spot, highly recommended.
