NORTHERN R.
We spent four weeks in our caravan on a powered site at Halifax Holiday Park, and had a fantastic stay. The park is consistently clean, the grounds are well cared for, and the amenities are sanitary and well maintained. Everyone in the park community was welcoming and friendly, which mattered during a longer visit. Kristy, the current park manager, was amazing. She walked through almost every day to say hello, check in, and make sure guests were happy and looked after. That personal care made a real difference. The western end of the park has direct access to Shoal Bay Beach, which feels like a little private spot. Little Beach is on the other side, with calm, waveless water where young kids can play safely. We'd happily recommend the park to families, couples, or anyone after a relaxed, friendly stay on this beautiful coast. Greg & Rita

The sites are generously sized, so you don't end up right against your neighbour's van with your window open. The park is dog friendly even in peak season, which we need, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. There are text updates when the seafood man or others are coming through, which is great. Direct beach access is tucked away at the end, away from many other beach users, and Nelson Bay is an easy walk away. This was our second Christmas at Halifax, we've already rebooked our site for 2026, and can't wait to be back.

The park is in a lovely spot within walking distance of the marina and shopping centre, with plenty of sites for different types of vans. The amenities seem fairly new, the showers are great, and there's a nice camp kitchen. Reversing and parking can be tight on some sites, and getting to the recycling and rubbish bins is a big trek for many. They're right near the park exit.

The park was welcoming, and the friendly, helpful staff made everything smooth from start to finish. It was great value for money and made for a stress-free holiday. The location is especially convenient: a short walk takes you to the beach, local shops, cafés, and everything else we needed, so we didn't have to drive everywhere. I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would happily return. Highly recommend Halifax Holiday Park for an affordable, relaxing Nelson Bay visit.

We were there for a week over Christmas. The modern facilities were in great condition, and when the cleaners had been through, the women's bathrooms were great. Between cleans they got noticeably dirty because of the heavy use. Once there was poo in a shower drain; more than once, toilets were blocked with toilet paper and waste, and there was toilet paper on the floor. The park felt chaotic with so many families around. Lots of young kids rode bikes and scooters along the paths and roads, sometimes straight towards people or cars and without an adult with them. That's understandable during school holidays, but if you don't have kids or want a calmer stay, I'd suggest coming another time. The WiFi didn't work properly, which staff knew about, and mobile service was limited. Usually that wouldn't bother me, but over a week it was inconvenient at times. We'd booked well ahead and paid $945 for a tent site for the week. We couldn't extend by just three days unless we paid for another full week, which was hard to justify, so we cut the holiday short. The location is lovely, with the beach and café only two minutes away, and reception staff were very friendly.
