Hunter Gateway Motel

The location was excellent, and everything else made me happy too. I stayed here in October, and the rooms were comfortable and clean, the appliances were great, and the staff were friendly. I'd happily stay again.

The road noise was pretty rough, though being close to the pub is handy, so I suppose that's the trade-off. The room was clean and plenty big, with a comfy bed and good shower pressure. A pleasant spot, and I'd recommend it for an overnight stay.

The bed was comfortable, and we did get a good night's sleep after a long day travelling. Still, I wouldn't recommend the place. There were cobwebs in the room, a stain on the sheets and a filthy chair. While we were trying to sleep, someone tried to get into our room, possibly housekeeping. They said they hadn't realised anyone had checked in, even though our car was right outside and the TV was on. Reception was pleasant enough, but tried to charge me again for early check-in, which I'd already paid for. They didn't say what the charge was beforehand. Luckily there was no money in that account, as I thought it might be a pre-authorised charge like at some other hotels.

Since Chantal took over as the new manager, there have been so many improvements. The rooms are very clean and the grounds and garden look great. Great motel, well done.
