Mercure Newcastle

The kitchen staff were so sweet to deal with, and everyone was welcoming and kind over our wedding weekend. The room was lovely too. It was a bit odd that there wasn’t a shelf in the shower for toiletries, but otherwise everything was great. The customer service was amazing from the moment we arrived. 10/10, we’d stay again.

We had dinner at the on-site restaurant one night. The food was good quality and nicely presented, though a little pricey compared with nearby places. The breakfast buffet was basic, with limited choice. It was enough to start the day, but we thought there should be more options for the price. Mercure Newcastle is centrally located, close to the main shopping centre, including Coles, as well as the marina and wharf. That made it easy to go for a stroll or find somewhere else to eat. We stayed as a family for a couple of nights and were comfortable. We’d consider coming back when we visit Newcastle.

The location was really convenient for getting around central Newcastle, and I thought the price was reasonable. Staff were great and moved us straight away when we found our first room hadn’t been cleaned. The replacement room had an empty hand soap dispenser and a loose shower head that couldn’t be adjusted. I’d still recommend staying here if you want somewhere central.

The Drive & Stay package was handy, with parking and breakfast prepaid for each morning. We also enjoyed the pool on a hot day. Restaurants, nightlife and the waterfront are all an easy walk away. My husband and I came to Mercure Newcastle for a much-needed weekend away, our first since having our son, and the team made us feel really special. They welcomed us with sweets, a complimentary bottle of bubbles, chocolates, water and a lovely card with a heartfelt note. Everyone was friendly and approachable throughout. Thanks for making it so memorable. We’ll definitely be back.
