A lovely spot for a meal. My Caesar salad was delicious, with crunchy croutons, proper cured bacon and just the right amount of dressing. My friend had the chicken schnitzel with chips and salad, and a side of Diane sauce, or maybe gravy! The portions were generous too.

There's a nice range of settings around the venue, each with a different feel. The location is great, the staff are friendly, and both the menu selection and food were amazing. I didn't stay in the rooms, though I've heard they're awesome.

For lunch, there was a good range of pub food at reasonable prices, along with some more expensive mains. The restaurant's modern furnishings are comfortable, and the tables have enough space between them to move around without disturbing other diners.

The venue was impressively well soundproofed. They've clearly put effort into keeping it from getting that clangy sound many bistros have, and that can make or break a place. Our group also had plenty of choices for gluten-free, dairy-free and even coeliac options. One person ordered a pizza that looked delicious, with more prawns than I'd expected. We didn't go upstairs this time, but I'll definitely come back despite the half-hour drive, try upstairs and take some photos of the view.

The flavour of the Margherita Pizza was there, but the middle was wet, sloppy and undercooked, with far too much cheese. For the price, it was disappointing. I'd use less cheese in the centre, drain some liquid from the tomatoes and cook it longer or hotter. Those simple fixes would make a big difference. Someone in management should order one and check the menu's quality. Where's the head chef, and why is this leaving the kitchen? I hate to say it, but Dominoes makes a better pizza. Theirs aren't sloppy and they're a hell of a lot cheaper. It should be easy to fix. Bring in an experienced pizza chef to teach the cooks.
