I ordered the food as takeaway to eat in my room, and it was ready when it was ready. No problem, since everything was worth the wait while I sipped cocktails near the bar. The Lucky Hotel in Newcastle has a great atmosphere, and the accommodation feels like 1000 stars out of 1000. I highly recommend it if you're staying or eating in Newcastle. Lunch was a big order: The Lucky Burger with fries and tomato sauce, the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Burger with fries and BBQ sauce, and six bao buns, three with tempura prawns and three with roasted mushroom. I also had two Espresso Martinis, and both were 1000 stars out of 1000. Every dish I ordered was 1000 stars out of 1000. The bao buns were heavenly and made in house. The beef burger was a direct hit on the Quarter Pounder, Big Mac and Grand Angus, or should I say the Royal Angus, fit for a food king. Pure burger perfection. The chicken burger is a Newcastle NSW original style, with Japanese crumbed chicken, Japanese slaw and a Japanese burger bun. Outstanding combination. And the fries are something special: double fried in a medium hot pan flash fry in beef suet, lightly seasoned. 1000 stars out of 1000. My online review readers, enjoy when you can. A comfortable bed with luxurious linen made for a great night's sleep, and the room's quirky, charming interiors gave the hotel plenty of character. This centrally located gem was a lovely place to stay. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the tea, coffee and bottled water were a nice touch. The courtyard bar is stunning, a lovely place to eat or have a drink. Highly recommended.

We had dinner here with my husband and two close friends who'd just had a baby. The venue was really nice, with beautiful food and great customer service. We sat outside near the kitchen. It was a bit noisy with the young ones drinking, though it quietened down after a while. Our friends and their baby were fine, and that's what mattered to us.

The Lucky Hotel was a great last minute lunch find. The atmosphere was amazing, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Getting there was easy, with a light rail stop right at the door and plenty of parking nearby. You can order from the table, or the staff are happy to help place your order. The food came quickly and was beautifully presented. Thanks, Team, for a lovely afternoon.

From the outside it looks a bit like an old man's pub, but inside it's been beautifully renovated. I stopped in for lunch on a 43°C afternoon and found a real hidden gem. The food was fantastic, the beer was cold and the staff were friendly. The decor mixes original touches, like a fireplace halfway up the main bar wall, with modern details, including a lovely mural and a drum kit light hanging in the triple height space over the tables. The courtyard looks like somewhere I'd enjoy visiting again. I look forward to another chance to get a beer and a bite at this cheeky little pub.
