I've stayed overnight here a few times. The rooms are tidy and clean, and it's consistently one of the least expensive places to stay overnight in Newcastle. There's a sink, mirror and electric kettle in the room, plus some complimentary tea and coffee. The bathrooms are always clean and the shower is really good, and the staff are friendly. On Friday and Saturday nights you can hear quite a bit of noise from the pub below in the room, but that's to be expected and it doesn't carry on too late.

Lunch at the.nags was sensational. The grilled Barra was the best I've ever had, and the food was delicious. Service was fast and friendly, and the price was well below what you'd pay elsewhere. If you're in Adamstown, definitely drop in for a meal and a cold beer.

There's a lot to like about the location. It's easy to get to Broadmeadow Station and the city centre is about 20 minutes away by bus, so I didn't need to rent a car. The road is brightly lit at night, which feels safe, and there are heaps of good eateries nearby, like HaHa next door and the Himalayan Taj. Birds in the trees opposite will wake you at 6am, too. The room light is a bit stark and glaring, and I wish there were more power points for charging several devices.

I stopped by the Bistro for a quick lunch and chose the squid salad. It was cooked really well and came with a lovely fresh salad. Perfect!

The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the drinks were great. I had a wonderful time at Nags Head Hotel, with fresh, tasty food too. It's a perfect place to unwind. I'll definitely be back!
