The Windsor Castle Hotel

We were there for a birthday dinner, so I can’t comment on the accommodation. The menu has changed quite a bit since our last visit, and my husband and I both settled on schnitzels because we couldn’t really find the kind of straightforward pub food we wanted. Away from burgers and pizzas, the options felt expensive and gourmet. My pepper sauce was lovely, but the salad was just mixed lettuce and cherry tomatoes, no onion, carrot or cucumber. Good thing we had a voucher.

Emily James had such a charming smile and infectious laugh, and she was amazing with us. She served me a scrumptious meal of two schnitzels, chips, seasoned vegetables, potatoes and cheesy garlic bread with sweet chilli sauce. I asked her name and she kindly told me it was Emily James. I also saw her carrying what looked like 30 cups at once. I just thought, wow, that was amazing.

The food was unreal, as always. I’ve been coming to the Windsor Castle for a few months, and when Denzel, the young male manager, is working, he’s always lovely. He walks around checking on people and making sure they’re happy and enjoying themselves, and he goes out of his way to look after customers. It’s great seeing a young manager lead by example like that. Credit to the Windsor Castle for having him on the team.

For the price, this is an easy pub stay to recommend. The Windsor has been beautifully renovated, and the rooms feel nice and secure. The meals are delicious, and the live entertainment was great too. The windows block sound well when shut, though it gets noisy if you open one. The aircon works well. There’s no microwave, but we didn’t really need one, it would just have been a bonus.
