Parkview Hotel Orange

Check-in was easy, and my room was modern, clean and well kept. On a warm day, they’d thoughtfully switched on the aircon and set it to a comfortable temperature before I arrived. The Parkview is right near Orange’s Main Street, yet somehow stays nice and quiet. My only suggestion is a warm-white bedside lamp or two, so there’s a softer option than the cold-white overhead light. Otherwise, all very good.

I left my bag in the garden and came back the next day to find they’d kept it for me. Really grateful for that, and for honest people. Thanks again. We came as a family and everything was great: the beer garden was lovely, staff were very friendly, the food delicious and the drinks very good.

I’d been recommended this place for lunch, but came away disappointed. The steak on the lunch special was tender and cooked well, though it had no flavour, and the gravy was thin, bland and scarce. The chips were good, but had gone soggy underneath the steak. The salad was almost all cucumber, which I loathe, with a little leafy green and half a cherry tomato. Won’t be back.

The room was fine and good value, and the staff were friendly. But avoid rooms 5, 6 and 7 if you need sleep: they’re above the beer garden and noisy. I had an early start and couldn’t sleep in one of them. I tried calling to ask about changing rooms and got cut off twice. Apparently calls aren’t answered after 6pm.
