There are plenty of spaces to choose from, including outdoors, indoors, the pub area, and a nicely air-conditioned restaurant for kids and families. The food and drinks were great, especially the pizza and seriously good garlic bread. I also liked the old-school feel and local crowd. I’ll be back, and next time I’ll join the tambola that I missed.

We found plenty of street parking, and there’s a nice verandah as well as dining space inside. The food is current and the prices are very competitive. It’s a proper country pub with a grand bar, fantastic staff, and really good food.

That Moroccan chicken and prawns were amazing, such a taste sensation. I had them for lunch today and absolutely loved the meal. Marita and Brendan, please keep it on the menu! 💖

I’ve been back twice now, and the service and food have been fantastic every time. The burgers and onion rings are the best in NSW, the Caesar salad and octopus salad are unreal, and the beers are cold. The publican is a really nice bloke, too. The Paxton Hotel feels like a real pub, with an open fireplace. I loved the homemade duck spring rolls and salt and pepper squid. The burger with fries was excellent, the best I’ve had in years, and worth the drive. Better than what Newcastle yacht clubs offer. They should put on motorbike events so the boys can ride over for a feed and a drink. Support the Hunter and visit this pub, it’s worth the drive.

The chef-cooked meals are the highlight, with a really good range and everything delicious. They’re well above the usual pub meal standard. It’s a great country pub, with good staff and plenty going on.
