Captains Cove Waterfront Apartments

The view is beautiful, but quite a few basics let the place down. When we arrived, the floors and bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly. The pots were badly scratched and didn’t seem suitable for cooking, and the very soft bed sagged enough to be uncomfortable. Noise carries from neighbouring units, even toilet flushing, so earplugs would be useful. Mosquitoes were also plentiful and made relaxing inside or outside difficult. We were there over Christmas, when reception closed in the afternoons, so we couldn’t get help with these problems then. The listing says there’s a heated pool, but it wasn’t heated during our stay. The lovely outlook can’t quite offset the comfort and maintenance issues.

We love coming back each year for a break by the water. The laid-back feel on the back deck, looking out over the water, is a highlight, and the kids enjoy the pool, bike rides and taking our boats out. There’s lots to explore nearby, from Metung and Springs by a short boat ride to the ferry to Raymond Island. The new owners David & Maddison are really lovely, friendly and accommodating. Such a treasure, highly recommend 🩵

We had a wonderful three days here, my wife and I. The villa was spacious and comfortable, and the scenery and fauna were lovely. It was clean and quiet, with the town centre, grocery store and ferry all within walking distance.

We wished we could have stayed longer in this comfortable place with its peaceful outlook over the water. The soap, shampoo and conditioner were nice, and everything was done well. I’d happily recommend Captain Cove Apartments. One small wish: a later checkout option. 10am feels early on holiday, and I would have paid extra to leave at midday.
