We used The Gatehouse as our base for exploring the Lakes district and Gippsland, and had a wonderful time wandering around. Judy and Graham were lovely hosts. The place is quiet, private and extremely well equipped, with beautiful gardens and views. It made a perfect getaway.

The hosts were welcoming and generous, and they’re great cooks. From the top floor of this amazing, award-winning home, the guest suite has lovely Gippsland Lakes views and a roomy living area. It’s private and beautifully decorated, with relaxing colours and great artwork. The location is peaceful but within easy walking distance of the waterfront, restaurants and shopping in Paynesville. I’d highly recommend it and hope to stay again.

Breakfast supplies were provided, including cereal, yogurt, bread and jams. The spacious apartment had nice kitchen facilities, and the lake views were lovely. It was quiet, with easy access to walks. A perfect host, location and facilities for a short stay as a couple.
