Our powered site wasn’t disclosed as being next to overnight works, either before or after booking. We would have found somewhere else if we’d known. The park felt very rundown and poorly maintained, and many permanent resident sites were really untidy. Worst Big4 I’ve ever stayed at.

The walls in the small apartments are so thin that you hear everything the neighbours do. That’s not ideal, but at least it’s understandable. What really wasn’t acceptable was cleaners starting at 8.30 am, talking and laughing outside the rooms. Guests pay to sleep and rest. Cleaning before 9.30 or 10 is poor planning and unfair. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a proper night’s sleep.

Our Superior Studio was clean and comfortable, but it shared an entrance with another room, and the people there smoked. The smell filled our room. The park itself looks run down, especially the grounds, and there were lots of very noisy people affected by drugs or alcohol. Sadly, we won’t stay here again.

We had to leave the site, and no refund was offered. Management allowed a large function to take place for two days on the grassy area right beside the powered slab sites. While we were getting ready and sorting laundry on our site this morning, at least 15 people arrived in several vehicles with folding tables, speakers, gazebos and other event gear. They walked straight through our site, only two feet from our sliding door, instead of going around. If we’d had our awning up, they would have walked under it. Nobody showed any regard for our personal space or even said hello. Their children stepped over our Ikea laundry bag while carrying equipment back and forth. Then the music started, and someone tested the microphone and speakers with “mic check” just a few metres from our van. It was our last night in Perth. I looked at my gf and couldn’t believe this was happening. We went straight to reception and politely asked for another site for the night, but were told none were available. Vacant sites across from us had become parking for attendees, not campers. Vans were parked everywhere, including on the only road in and out, and equipment was being unloaded beside our site. I said we’d have to leave and find somewhere else at short notice, which was really disappointing. The staff member said she’d contact the organiser and ask them to be more considerate, and seemed shocked at how disrespectful the attendees had been. I didn’t believe a call would change anything. Luckily, we found a cancellation site at Central Perth Campsite. The staff member said we should have received a text the previous day about the function, but we hadn’t. Another guest confirmed they hadn’t received one either. A text finally came at 12:38pm, after we’d checked in at Central Perth, telling guests about the event and apologising for the inconvenience. I assume other guests had complained by then. We were also told staff only found out about the event when management told them the day before, so asking staff ahead of time may not help. The rating would have been higher before this. Hosting an event metres from people on holiday is unfathomable. If this kind of sudden disruption is possible, check with staff before booking, though they may not know.

We had a big room with two double/queen beds, a kitchenette, lounge, TV, dining table and wardrobe. The shared toilets and showers were clean and close by, and there was parking right out front. Laundry had card operated machines, $7 a load. We stayed for a week, and it was a perfect base for our activities at Gudgegannup. The blonde lady at reception was lovely and checked us in early.
