Four Points by Sheraton Perth

A few things could be better: the iron needs cleaning, as it marked my white shirt, the rooms are a bit dated, and the gym’s 6am-10pm hours aren’t ideal if you wake up on East Coast time. On the plus side, the rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly and amazing. Keep it up! The hotel is about 10 minutes from Kings Park and conveniently opposite the Arena.

We stayed with our two children, who are 11, and the kids’ room was a bonus. Dinner at the restaurant was great, with good food and drinks. The breakfast was great too, and Sheena couldn’t do enough for us. The staff were lovely. This is the best value for money in the CBD right now. We used to stay at Double Tree Northbridge or the Alex, but this is our new go-to.

The room needs a few practical additions, like bowls, plates, cutlery and a microwave, plus a fridge and freezer that work properly. Ours froze the contents. The mattress was broken, the pillows sank and smothered me as a side sleeper, and the beds rolled around too easily. Wifi kept dropping out, the aircon didn’t work, and we could hear neighbours talking. There were good things too: staff were lovely, the location was good, and the valet driveway made it easy to catch a taxi or Uber. It’s near the yellow cat free city bus. Breakfast was an all-you-can-eat bar with lots of variety, well cooked and kept warm, plus a coffee machine, hot water, juices, different teas and hot chocolate. There was unlimited free water, 24/7 room service, and unlimited help-yourself tea and coffee.

The stay itself was pleasant, but the checkout left me really frustrated. The accounts department didn’t know how to release my bond properly, so thousands of dollars are still pending, which is useless to me. I travel a lot, and this is the first time in my life a hotel hasn’t known how to release the bond correctly.
