Metro Hotel Perth City

On a recent work trip, this felt like staying in a dungeon. The rooms were dim, the bedding was covered in hair, ants were crawling everywhere, and the shower water was ridiculously hot and scalding. A horror of a stay. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to a homeless person.

This doesn’t feel like a suitable place for tourists. I stayed one night and would have left if my booking had been refundable. The hotel seemed to have many locals looking for temporary accommodation, and some guests coming and going appeared intoxicated or high. When I raised my concerns with reception, they didn’t want to respond. The room had a sticky bathroom floor and carpet that looked like it needed a thorough vacuum, though I managed with flip-flops and didn’t find much else to fault about the cleanliness.

Really comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully set up for an easy trip. Check-in was simple, communication was great, and I slept well and enjoyed the space. I’d happily recommend it. The price is high, though I suppose that’s Perth. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The only people I can say anything positive about were the male morning manager and the Yorkshire girl at breakfast. The check-in women the afternoon before were rude, had no social skills, and apparently couldn’t manage the systems. The room was filthy: blood on the sheets, bodily fluids on the bathroom walls, pubic hair in the shower, dirt all over the floor, and vomit on a towel that had been folded up. Someone smoked on our floor. We told staff we’re severely asthmatic, and they just sprayed something that smelled like cheap carpet freshener. No apology or proper solution. The windows wouldn’t shut properly and had no safety screen. My kids opened one to listen to the city, and it only took seconds to see they could fall straight out. That’s dangerous and completely unacceptable. A friend on another floor had nearly the same experience, and another family at breakfast told us something similar, so this doesn’t seem like a one-off. After 9-10pm, people were banging around in the alley and escorts were waiting in the lobby. I wouldn’t bring kids here, and I didn’t feel comfortable coming back late. I’m looking forward to getting home and scrubbing myself clean. Avoid this place.
