The Ascua breakfast options were first class and well worth the price. Heno & Rey was good too, though a little slow and pricey. Odd as it might seem, try the tinned sardines, they’re the best. Restaurant staff were excellent and made the visit. The rooms are good, the door service very good, and the staff attentive. There’s no information in the room about mini Bar prices, so we didn’t use it. That’s unacceptable, I prefer everything to be clearly explained. Food and other services also have excessive surcharges on weekends and public holidays. If running a hotel is your core business, do better than these revenue-raising tactics. You’re within striking distance of Perth attractions, though traffic can make getting around busy, so walking is a good option.

I’ve never before been charged by a hotel just to release a deposit. I stayed at Intercontinental Perth from 5-11th Jan 2026. The hotel blocked the deposit on my credit card at check-in on 5th Jan, and it should have been released at checkout on 11th Jan if there were no accidentals. Usually a hold is removed within 3-10 working days, sometimes longer. On 30th Jan I noticed the funds were still blocked and emailed the hotel. I got no response, so I followed up. They said an unexpected system glitch on checkout day meant the release wasn’t processed properly. These things happen, though I do wonder if the hotel runs regular checks to catch this kind of situation. I waited, and the next day the blocked funds were gone, but there was a charge on my card, a very small amount. When I asked what it was, the explanation was completely unacceptable. They said they had refunded the money to speed things up, instead of releasing the hold, which could take up to 10 working days, and charged me for making that refund. So the hotel took a long time to return my money and I had to chase them. Then, without asking, they used a different process to fix their mistake, one that incurred a fee, and charged that fee to me. The amount is tiny, so this isn’t about the money. It’s about the rules, the hotel’s error and how they handled it. I might understand this from a one or two-star hotel in a small city, but this is Intercontinental in Perth, Australia.

We were really happy with our stay. The service was exceptionally good, and the room was tidy, spacious and comfy. The location was nice and close to anything you could want. Had a really nice time here.

Anna and Manali at the front desk, Tom at the concierge, and the valet team were all warm, professional and helpful. The outstanding service from start to finish made a real difference. The location is very convenient, and the rooms are functional and comfortable. Byredo toiletries were a nice extra. Amazing stay at InterContinental Perth, I love staying at InterCon and will definitely be back!
