The room, service and location were great. The noise was awful, though. If you go to bed around 10pm and want a good night’s sleep, don’t stay here. It’s only worth considering if you turn in extremely late.

The room at Nightcap at Belgian Beer Cafe was spotless and modern, with lovely bedlinen and a very comfortable bed. I was in the CBD to run a few errands, and the welcoming bar staff downstairs made the stay especially nice. There was some noise from below, but earplugs were provided and we slept really well. If you have mobility issues, keep in mind that you’ll need to climb stairs to reach the room. A five-star experience for me.

I spent one night here in a clean, spacious room with three big beds. The location was perfect, and overnight parking cost me $17 from 5pm-8am, about 50m from the hotel. The bar downstairs was noisy, and I could still hear it until midnight, so it’s not ideal if you have trouble sleeping. They do give you a free drink at the bar, though.

The queen room was clean and comfortable, though a bit cramped. If you can get the right tariff, this is good value in the heart of Perth CBD. Getting into the property means using a side entrance and stairs. Check-in and checkout are a little unusual: you use the phone on the wall in the upstairs lobby, then someone from the cafe downstairs comes to help. As far as I know there’s no self check-in, so arrive before the cafe closes. It’s a small thing, and otherwise this is a good CBD place to consider.

It’s 1:56 am and we still can’t sleep. Loud music from the bar across at 49 King Street, above the Afro restaurant, has been blasting through the night. We tried going to bed at 11:00 pm, but it was still going close to 2:00 am, making it impossible to rest. We complained to the key holder, called the police, and I went to the bar myself. The staff member I spoke to was rude and clearly didn’t care. This is meant to be a hotel, but getting any rest feels impossible with live instruments coming through the walls. I wish I could share my video and audio recordings as proof. Unless you want to stay awake all night, think twice about booking Nightcap at Belgian Beer Café.
