The wifi was really good and the location was good too. That's about it. If that's what you need, go to the public library, it's free and much cleaner. We had a private room that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. There were beer caps on the bed and shelves, plus forks and empty beers left by whoever was there before. It smelled of cigarettes, and the window couldn't be opened. The bedding had semen stains and what was most likely human feces. Not a good experience. People were partying and screaming until 2am on a Tuesday. I don't mind people having drinks, but when you've paid for a room, it's reasonable to expect the noise to die down. Good luck complaining to the manager. The hostel seemed to be run by residents who spent the day playing video games and smoking joints. The shared rooms were filthy too, as were the kitchen and living room. We felt awful giving them money. Don't give yours to those crooks. This is my first negative review, but it deserves it. For context, I'd just come out of two months of bush camping, so my standards and expectations were pretty low. Cheers.

The only good thing is the central location. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. As a woman travelling alone, I felt unsafe enough to leave after one night of a four-night booking. Someone with a key opened my room twice during the night, and people kept knocking to look for a man I later found out was the manager. I was too scared to sleep. Reception wasn't staffed, so I couldn't report the safety problem during the night, and the emergency number went to voicemail. The manager acknowledged that a staff member had tried to enter my room without realizing it was occupied, but refused to refund the three nights I didn't use. The sheets clearly hadn't been cleaned, with sand all through them. The floors and bathroom were disgustingly dirty, as if they hadn't been cleaned in months. The broken window was another security concern. Its security screen was lying on the floor, so anyone could get into the room through the window and reach things I'd left inside. The TV didn't work either.

There were only about three or four bathrooms for lots of guests, so I often had to wait to use the toilet or take a shower. Still, the hostel was okay for the price, I had a great time and met some really cool people. I'd recommend it.

The location is handy, with a free bus, food places, Coles and the bus and train station nearby. But in March the room was extremely hot because the AC didn't work. We saw four cockroaches in the room and a fifth in the kitchen. The kitchen and dining table were dirty. It looked like someone had cleaned them, but guests hadn't kept them clean. The nightclub next door was really loud, with music vibrating through the whole building, though luckily it only went on until midnight that day.
