Hermitage Lodge

The chalet was clean and had a lovely feel, with a balcony looking out over the vineyards. There’s a jacuzzi in the toilet and a free laundry room if you need it. Pascara, an excellent Italian restaurant, needs reservations. It’s conveniently located a short drive from Hunter Valley Gardens Center, Tower Whiskey Distillery, Blaxland Inn for BBQ, aged Wagyu Tomahawk or other grills, and First Creek for Wine & Cheese Tasting. In the early morning you can catch a great sunrise and watch hot air balloons take off.

We had a pleasant view over the vines from the terrace of our Lodge room, and several vineyards were within walking distance. It was great value for a Sunday night. The room was well appointed, the cookies were to die for, and the front desk staff were very friendly.

It’s a quaint place to stay among the vineyards, with all the comforts of home and a great location in the heart of wine country. The pool was refreshing on a summer afternoon, and the aircon in the room was nice and cold. The staff were quite helpful. I’d recommend it.

We booked four nights, but left early after waking at 6am and checking out to go to another hotel. Bugs kept falling from the ceiling onto the bed, including on the third night. We’d been warned that rain had brought bugs into the property, but there were dead ones all over the place when we checked in, clearly sprayed but not wiped up or cleaned. After the second night we asked the front desk for a refund because it was disgusting. They refused and didn’t offer to move us to another room. We gave up a night’s accommodation, which shows how bad it was. Very disappointed. Couldn’t give a poorer review if I tried. Pics attached.
