There's lots of space to explore on foot, with plenty of parking too. The apartments are self-contained, and ours had a spa in the room. The grounds are lovely, and you can keep busy with the pool, tennis court, ping pong and kids' play area. Reception has games and books to borrow, plus snacks for sale. Staff are delightful. Goldfish @goldfishbarandrestaurant, Oishi @oishiihuntervalley and @huntervalleygardens are all within walking distance, so it's a handy base in the Hunter Valley. You can also take the Dining Safari tour from here for a food tour of the Valley.

We chose this place because it's an easy walk to Hunter Valley Gardens for the Christmas Lights, and the location was perfect for that. The beds were comfortable, and despite being near the big roundabouts it was surprisingly quiet. The bush setting is lovely. We'd definitely stay again.

The villas are dotted around the property. I liked being able to open every window for fresh air. The TV has a great picture and there's a DVD player, with DVDs available from the office. The kitchen was practical enough, with a microwave, two hotplates and a decent fridge.

I haven't stayed there, but had a nice experience that says a lot about their customer service. Our shuttle bus arrived to pick up a couple for a wedding, but they weren't there. While we waited in the car park for 10 minutes, the receptionist came out and gave everyone on the bus a bottle of water, free of charge. Much appreciated.

The rooms are good for a getaway, even if they're a little dated. There's a good pool, play area and tennis court, and I'd recommend it for families.
