The pool was filthy, and it looked like the filter hadn't been running for ages. There were lots of permanent residents drinking on the deck nearby. The room was just as bad: the floor hadn't been cleaned in a while, and after I asked for it to be done, I still had to clean it myself. The single bed was dusty, and the person cleaning left a half-eaten ice cream in one of the bowls. It's nowhere near the beach. Don't waste your money or stay here. There are plenty of better places.

The only good part was that the man at reception was nice. We had to call twice and wait quite a while before anyone came to greet us, and after that things just got worse. We paid roughly $145 for the night while travelling through with my husband and our 11 month old baby. The photos are extremely misleading. The room was so dirty that after just five minutes crawling, our child had black soot all over his hands, knees and feet, so we couldn't let him crawl again. The shower was one of the dirtiest I've seen, there were leeches in it, and cockroaches were flying around the ceiling. The cups and glasses weren't clean either, and one mug had fresh coffee stains. The balcony looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, so we couldn't sit outside. The bed was advertised as a double but was two singles pushed together. We felt so uncomfortable that we got up at 2am and left. For that price, the state of the place was barely liveable. We wish we'd asked for our money back. We were incredibly disappointed, won't stay again, and urge others to avoid it.

The online pictures are nothing like the rooms. Inside, everything was filthy, with dirty sheets, mould everywhere, and dust packed into the fans and aircon. The grounds were neglected too. There were noisy, drunk permanent residents. Avoid this place at all costs.

We had a broken TV during our 10 day stay, but it was fixed within a day. The staff were lovely and the service was amazing. Still, constant fights in other rooms and profane language around such young kids made us feel quite unsafe. We'd come back to emu park, but probably not this resort. It was me, my wife, son and mother staying together.

The beach is easy to get to, right across the road, and there's a great bowls club opposite for meals and drinks. We booked at the last minute and got a good price. Some locals we chatted with said it used to be a backpackers. The room was reasonable for what we paid and comfortable enough for our needs. Beds were comfy, the shower was good with hot water, though the kitchen facilities were limited.
