We stayed five nights and were disappointed with every part of the accommodation. We had told Reception we'd arrive late, but when we got there at 8:30pm, nobody was around to help us find our room. We had to haul our bags up two flights of stairs over broken, cracked tiles. The room badly needed renovation and was very noisy, less than 30 metres from the main road. The main room had no glass window, just a plastic louvre. It was expensive, and we couldn't find a single positive. By far the worst place we've stayed. No stars from us.

Good location, obliging staff and a fine pool, but the place is very worn and needs refurbishment. The plumbing leaked, the shower water wasn't always hot, and both the kettle and hairdryer had to be replaced. There was no bathroom fan either, and no lift to the third floor.

We left 15 minutes after arriving and gave up the cost of our eight-night booking. The room was very poorly cleaned, and the pool and other amenities were well below standard. The photos advertising the place were far from what we actually found. We walked into town with our suitcases and were lucky enough to find somewhere else to stay. We love Port Douglas and still plan to return to this beautiful, unique part of the world next year, even though this trip ended up being very costly.

I'm writing for my grandparents, who wanted to review the place but can't use Google. They've stayed at Reef Club Resort for 17 years. For the past eight years, Lea and Joe have managed it and have been caring and attentive to their needs. They're planning to return next year.

We booked five nights, but checked out the next day. It was hard to find our room, and once we did, we found cockroaches sharing it with us. When I complained, I quickly got the impression the owner/manager liked cockroaches much more than Amricans. For the record, I'm an Australian and USA citizen, and the owner/manager is neither.
