Dinner at the hotel restaurant was enjoyable, though the fish and chips portion was small for the price and left us still hungry. The room also got stuffy and too warm on hot summer nights, since the windows don’t open. Air conditioning would help. The family room was cosy and spacious, with an upgraded, clean toilet. We liked relaxing in the common lounge with its river view. There’s a kitchen there where guests can store food in the fridge and use the microwave, and plates, cups, glasses and sinks are available. Breakfast was complimentary, good, and had plenty of choices. One thing we hadn’t realised was that rooms are only serviced if you hang the Room Service tag on the door knob. We found that out in the information book after our room wasn’t serviced on the second day. It’d be helpful if staff mentioned this at check-in, since it’s easy to miss in the booklet. I can still recommend staying here.

I stopped in for breakfast and the fresh scones with raspberry jam were amazing. The jam reminded me of my grandma’s, nothing like the gelatinous supermarket kind. My hot chocolate was very good too. A lovely cozy morning treat, highly recommend.

The budget room we stayed in was comfortable, we slept really well, and the shower was better than one we had at a luxury stay elsewhere. Lily, Sam and Cam were such welcoming, helpful young staff and made the stay a positive one. The chef deserves a shout out too, our food was really good and nicely presented. Thoroughly recommend this accommodation.

The shower was hot with strong flow, but the bath was dangerously slippery and really needs a bath mat. My four-year-old grandson slipped when he stepped in. Luckily he wasn’t hurt, and I stood on a face washer when I showered. The rooms were large and clean, with a decent-sized TV for a change. Breakfast was included and good, especially the delicious homemade jam. You could also get proper coffee for an extra charge, and it was good coffee. Dinner was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The restaurant was AMAZING. I had the best steak I’ve eaten in a long time, and now I compare everything else to it. The complimentary continental breakfast was good too, with attentive, polite staff. The rooms are spacious, the staff very friendly, and the location is perfect. Shower pressure was the only letdown.
