We booked Palm Cove at the last minute after deciding to stay in Port Macquarie over Christmas, so we weren't expecting much. It was a pleasant surprise. The room was tidy, the bathroom was clean, and the room had a microwave, kettle, hair dryer and Netflix. The split-system air conditioning worked, and there was a spacious outdoor area. Reception was friendly and the room was cleaned daily. It was also handy for walking to Cole’s, the town centre, West Port and the Breakwall. One drawback is how close the outdoor areas are to neighboring rooms. Sit too far out and you might have breakfast with your neighbour. The car park has very low clearance. We also stayed at Mantra Quayside. The higher floors there had a better view, but the room quality was on par. We were pleasantly surprised with Palm Cove.

The pool was a lovely extra for unwinding after a day of wine tastings. We stayed in the Superior Queen Room last weekend, and it was spacious and tidy, with a really comfortable bed. Staff were kind and helpful and had plenty of suggestions for local places to eat. The location was fantastic, just steps from CBD Port Macquarie.

We found it a bit pricey, since we'd had better deals at slightly fancier hotels, but it was still a really nice place to stay. The renovated room was modern and had a ‘river’ view. Service was easy and fuss-free, and the town centre is a lovely short walk away. Recommended.

I stayed for a week. The room was great and the staff were awesome, so no complaints there. What bothered me was the major renovation work. Nobody told me about it when I booked, and at times it was really loud. I wouldn't have stayed there if I'd known. Maybe that's why they leave it unsaid. I took one star off for that. Otherwise, it's a nice place.

The location was great and it's a nice motel, but check what room you're getting. Not all rooms have balconies or queen beds, despite what you might assume. Our superior room was so cramped you couldn't swing a cat. I paid a lot less for an apartment with a kitchen in Canberra on New Year's Eve, and we weren't even there during the holiday period.
