The location is good, and there’s a secure parking space in the garage. The bed and lounge were comfortable, but we had no hot water for two days. The wardrobe smelled musty, with mouse droppings on the top shelf. The kitchen light didn’t work, and the toilet door wouldn’t shut or lock.

The only real positives were the beach views across the road. Inside, the unit felt disgusting and untouched since it was built, which I’d guess was back in the 1960s. The utensils were dirty, the beds uncomfortable, the lounge awful to sit on, and the second bedroom felt like a cell. It smelled musty as soon as we walked in. The windows were dirty, the TV was small, and there was no internet or WiFi. The heating was just a small fan heater and wasn’t enough. The agent said she’d try to get a bigger one, but that never happened, and we froze most nights. She wasn’t helpful when we wanted to move to another unit, saying this was a well sought after place, which I very much doubt. She had no intention of helping us. I’m a landlord myself and would never rent out my place in that condition. There was no lift, and we had to climb what felt like six flights of stairs. The garage wasn’t secure either, with everyone else parking in there as well.

We wouldn’t go back. The place was badly maintained, hot water stopped working after the second day, and cockroaches were running around. The balcony door rollers were worn out, so my wife couldn’t open it, and the balcony furniture was damp and unpleasant.

Elders realty were great. We arrived late, and they left the keys for us to collect at a service station, which was very cool. The unit was good for the price, with two big bedrooms and plenty of room for our family of five. It’s across the road from the surf club and beach, close to food, drinks and a chemist. The view in the morning as the sun comes up is really special. The unit could use new fittings, but it’s still very usable.

The place was filthy, including the oven and grill, and the garage was just as dirty. We had no TV for four days and couldn’t get in touch with anyone to complain. There was no toilet paper, the doona needs washing, and you couldn’t see through the ocean view window. I cleaned half the windows myself. I won’t recommend this place at all and will write about it on the internet.
