Koala Tree Motel

We chose this hotel because we were travelling with pets and it had last-minute availability. I can see why now. The rooms weren't clean and clearly needed maintenance, and basic amenities were sparse at best. The manager/receptionist was rude and unprofessional. Soon after checking in, I pointed out a damaged tiled soap holder in the shower. He later accused me of causing the damage, dismissed what I'd told him, and insisted on charging a damage fee to my card without offering a resolution. This was nowhere near acceptable. For affordable or last-minute accommodation, I'd look elsewhere. This business should be shut down.

James at reception was friendly, and we'll stay here again. We were hesitant because of the reviews and needed somewhere pet friendly, but had a pleasant stay. The landscaping does need attention, though they've had storm after storm over the past few months. Inside, the room was perfectly fine, with a TV and mini fridge; everything was clean, the sheets immaculate, and the bathroom spotless. It's a pity some people can't look past a few scattered leaves and see the work involved in running a motel. And complaints about deposits seem odd to me, since banks commonly take a few days to process refunds.

They asked us for a $600 deposit, and even after calling about 100 times, it still wasn't fully returned. All they said was that they'd made a full refund. We'd booked three rooms and found ourselves in a terrible place. The rooms were in extremely poor condition and unclean, with cockroaches running around as soon as we walked in. The beds felt flimsy and moved with a slight push; sleeping on them was uncomfortable, and they made strange noises like they might break. The kitchen microwave didn't work, there were no basic utensils, and the whole family got just one toilet roll. I'd tell people not to book here. Better to stay home and save your hard-earned money.

I stayed here years ago with my pets and had no problem, but this time was different. Staff were rude, the bed was so uncomfortable, and the AC didn't work, so the room stayed hot all night and I could barely sleep. There was no wifi and just one tiny shampoo for two people. They charged me a $200 deposit, and judging by the reviews, who knows if I'll get it back.
