South Pacific Resort

We rented a whole apartment. It was clean, a bit old school, and the person at reception was friendly. There’s underground parking, a nice kiddie pool and the beach is very close. The TV is old school, with no Netflix’s or YouTube, though they offer lots of DVDs. There are no elevators, so we asked for a ground-floor room. The main drawback was the gap in the bedroom sliding door, which let light spill through all night. We’d stay again if we came back.

The location is great, and I have fond memories of coming here as a kid. This time I came with my partner, and the place felt much the same as when I was here in 2012. The interiors are very outdated and need renovation. There was a funky smell in the room, and the ocean view was okay. The room had space, but the bathroom was very small, with a broken or smashed door missing parts, and mold in a few spots in the shower. Since we come to Port every couple of months, I’m unsure whether I’d return.

The apartment was huge and clean, with a very comfortable bed, a well-equipped kitchen, hot shower with good pressure, and a washer and dryer in the room. The aircon was cold, the rooms seemed soundproof, and each apartment had secure reserved undercover parking. It had everything I look for on a weekend business trip. Staff were friendly, the grounds looked well kept, and nothing was broken. The place seems geared towards families, with a little waterpark, and the kids I saw were having a ball. Even so, I didn’t find it particularly loud. My apartment was right above the carpark entrance, so the automatic door was very clear whenever cars came and went. Also, one window facing the stairs had no blackout blind, so you could see right in at night, even though the other windows had them. These seemed specific to that one apartment and didn’t bother me much, so take that with a grain of salt. At the current price, I’d definitely stay again.

We loved our stay. The location made it easy to walk to the beach and the gorgeous ocean walks, and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was fantastic. Only downside was the small bathrooms.
