Mandy was wonderful about making sure I could stay another night in my room when fires meant I couldn’t get home yet. The place itself is beautiful, and you can feel the care and love as soon as you walk in. My room was immaculate and tidied every single day. The outside garden, full of beautiful plants, was amazing too. It’s the best place I’ve ever stayed.

There’s a lot of history here, and the accommodation has a lovely, quirky feel. Older guests might want to request a ground-floor room, since the spiral staircase could be frightening. It’s very close to the main street and an easy walk to the shopping area. For dining, the manager only offers breakfast and packed lunches. Many, the manager, was very friendly.

We had a great stay at the Victoria house and would definitely come back. The house restoration and historic atmosphere were amazing, and the hosts were fabulous, friendly, and great cooks. The gardens were beautiful to wake up to. It’s in a wonderful spot on top of a hill, overlooking beautiful Portland Bay. Highly recommend.

Mandy made the stay special. When we booked, she even sorted out our train tickets from Melbourne, and she was a wonderful hostess throughout. The rules were clear, and every detail felt just right. We also loved the fruitcake and Port by the roaring fire in the lounge. After staying in plenty of accommodation, I’ve never had a place get everything so spot on. We’ll look for Victoria House next time we’re in Portland.
