The food was great, and Preston beach is an amazing spot. This little place is peaceful and fun, with a lovely setting. You can use the pool if you buy a meal and a drink. I highly recommend it.

The shared grassy area and shaded decks were lovely places for everyone to gather in the evenings, and we spotted kangaroos hopping through at sunset. Our group of 19, including adults of all ages and teenagers, booked five chalets together for a fantastic family holiday. They were clean, tidy and comfortably furnished with modern pieces. Unit 11 was especially well equipped, though a few of the other chalets had fewer amenities and supplies. It’s a quiet location with an easy walk to the beach, and there’s good opportunity for fishing, swimming and 4x4 driving. The pool and café/bar were great, but the café only opened on weekends, so plan around that if you want to eat there during the week. There were also limited supplies at the local grocery store due to temporary fridge problems, and no nearby alternatives for restocking, so bring what you need. Thanks to Simone for handling our complex booking. We also had an excellent wine tasting at Vineyard 28, which we’d highly recommend. It was a brilliant getaway for family and friends, and we’d happily come back.

Four days before our fishing trip, our weekend plans were turned upside down when they cancelled the two-night booking for six people, at $400 a night. We had reserved in late January and received confirmation. They had approved six guests, quoted $50 for two extra mattresses, and quoted another $150 for early check-in and late checkout, bringing the total to $1,000. The receptionist only said, “that’s the rules,” and eventually I gathered that they didn’t want six people staying there. Why approve the booking and quote us for the weekend back in January, then? I offered to have four of us stay and the other two camp on the beach, but was simply told the reservation had been cancelled. The manager also said, without really explaining, “we’ve had this sort of thing before, your reservation has been cancelled.” They were rude and hung up on me twice while I was only trying to find out why. Be warned, if you don’t want your holiday or weekend away ruined, don’t go through these people. Read the other reviews first.

Such a fun place to wine and dine with the locals 😁 We highly recommend the footprints cafe to all our guests staying at Preston beach.

The place feels a bit run down and needs a good clean. The ceiling fans are filthy, the living room aircon filters look like they haven’t been cleaned for years, and the shade cloth over the back sitting area is covered in mould. There’s no aircon in the upstairs bedroom either 🤔. I’ve only just checked in and can already see it needs a proper going over.
