Oak Tree Lodge

Breakfast was included and was amazing, and the coffee machine was a lovely bonus in the morning. The house is adorable, cozy, and beautifully decorated, with everything we needed thoughtfully in place. We slept really comfortably, loved the fireplace, and the shower was fantastic. You can tell the hosts have put a lot of care into making the place special. We loved our stay and highly recommend it.

The lack of hot water made this stay disappointing. It worked on our first night, then stopped. I told the owner the next morning, and he was very nice and sent a handyman around 4pm. We were there for the visit, but the water still wasn't hot. He said the tank needed a couple of hours, so we trusted that and went to the Penguin Parade. When we got back late that night, there was still no hot water. The owner didn't respond then, which was understandable given the hour, but we had a toddler who couldn't take a cold shower. We ended up boiling pots of water over and over and carrying them to the tub so she could wash properly. The handyman returned the next morning, but we'd already packed and were about to check out. It was uncomfortable having cold showers both mornings, and frustrating that the handyman didn't believe us when we said the first visit hadn't fixed it. I hope the guests after us had a better experience. The cottage itself is lovely and well equipped, with a fully working kitchen that let us cook for ourselves. Check-in was easy, and we liked being near the jetty, in a quiet spot with beautiful scenery.

The breakfast provisions were much more generous than we expected, which was a lovely surprise. We stayed for two days in very stormy weather and found the cottage comfortable and well equipped, with beautiful furnishings and a peaceful garden outlook. The wharf and cafe are an easy short walk away. I'd highly recommend it for a visit to Phillip Island.

The beds are so comfortable that getting up was a struggle, and the bath in the gatehouse was a nice extra. I keep coming back to Oak Tree Lodge when I'm in Phillip Island. It's a beautiful getaway, with a lovely garden and outdoor seating that makes a great place to eat when the weather's good. Can't recommend this b&b enough!
