It’s just a two-minute stroll into historic Richmond, and Red Brier Cottage is a lovely spot to unwind. The old villa has a charming feel, with climbing jasmine by the front door. Inside, it’s furnished comfortably in an early 20th-century style, while still having the modern essentials: WiFi, a heat pump, appliances and plenty of power sockets.

Richmond was such a great visit, and this cosy cottage made it even better. It felt friendly and welcoming, and had everything we needed: washer and dryer, spa bath, kitchen with an oven, TV with Netflix, DVD player, books, and either a fireplace or air conditioning. We’ll definitely return.

The owner was welcoming and very hands-on. This cute little cottage felt homely, and the shops are an easy walk away. The bathroom was a bit dark for showering, though I wasn’t in there long.

Vivienne was a wonderful host. We stopped by to see if there was any accommodation available while she was still cleaning the other cottages, and she quickly helped my partner and me out. She left us with generous breakfast provisions and gave us local tips. The cottage is so close to everything in Richmond, and I highly recommend it.

Vianne gave us a bad experience on our honeymoon a few years ago when she double-booked us and asked us to move out so she could fit in the other guests. She said she couldn’t afford to upset them because the booking was through an agency. We agreed, and she moved us to a substandard place, promising us a free weekend at the cottage on a return visit. I recently tried to take her up on that, but she dodged the issue and basically wouldn’t follow through. She’s dishonest and poorly organised. Don’t stay there.
