The Robertson Hotel

We had the best day and can’t thank the hotel enough for making it so magical. We fell in love with the Robertson Hotel as our wedding venue: the gardens are stunning, and inside there are so many lovely little spaces with old-world charm. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout the preparations and on the wedding day, and took care of everything. Special mention to Megan, who coordinated the day.

The garden ceremony was beautiful, and it was a great place for the meal, dancing, and party. Our three-day wedding for 120 guests went smoothly, with plenty of support at the bar and permission to bring our own champagne. The food and service were well catered throughout. Our top D's made the event really memorable, along with swimming naked in the pool on a winter night until the early hours.

The building looks like a pretty veneer hiding something rotten, and the atmosphere felt like The Shining. We paid $200 each for the Christmas buffet, $1,200 for six of us, and got just two hours. Wine and beer weren’t included, which we only found out when we arrived. The food was below average, the buffet line was long, and we had to ask for more plates. Even then, finding a clean one meant sorting through the stack. What was advertised and what we got were light years apart. We barely made it through the two hours, and I can’t imagine staying overnight. The Robertson stole Christmas.

The garden was beautiful, and the old building has been renovated with real care. We enjoyed our stay and the room was lovely, though I’d hoped it would have a bath. The food was good, and when an issue came up, the staff dealt with it promptly and professionally. We’d definitely visit again.
