It’s surprisingly peaceful for where it is, and there’s room for big sites, some right by the beach. The pool is lovely and enormous, with a spiral slide and a little cave the kids can play in. Plenty of loungers too, plus a separate shallow pool for small children. The tiled shower cubicles are roomy and the facilities were clean. The licensed cafe had build-your-own burgers on Friday night for $15, then six pizza options on Saturday for the mid-$20s. Dogs are welcome, with long walks in either direction along the park. Definitely recommend.
We had a great time and would come back. The beach was beautiful and quiet, and our cabin looked straight out over it. The cabins are a bit old-fashioned, but had what we needed for an easy family weekend. There was food and live music, a great pool for the kids, and enough fishing to keep the older boys occupied. The kids were happy riding their bikes and scooters around.
The pool was soup-warm, with black-spot and green algae, and the beach was fenced off because of crocs. You also can’t keep any fish you catch. There’s almost nothing to buy on site beyond $4 soft drinks, chocolate bars and bait, not even milk. The cafe is just a van and wasn’t open either day or night. In the scorching weather there was no cold water or bubbler, only hot tap water. The camp kitchen was filthy, its fridges didn’t work properly, and the gas stoves leaked and wouldn’t light themselves. Cooking felt like a near-death experience, with lots of waiting too. The sites were dusty and bare, the jumping pillow flat, and the playground had been removed. Reception staff seemed disinterested and unwilling to help. New owners have ruined the place. It’s a below-average park with povo facilities, painful to stay at, and I wouldn’t recommend it. There are plenty of better places around Townsville, so look elsewhere.
It’s a lovely beach spot, but I don’t think the price was worth it. Our room felt very dated, the shower had mould, and the lounge chairs weren’t clean. There was also a big dip in the floor under the boards by the front door. The jumping pillow wasn’t up, which was a shame since it was the only thing our toddler could have used.
The grounds are nicely kept, and the setting is rural and beautiful, right on the beach with amazing sunrise views. There are ponds for fishing too, though it’s catch and release only. The pool is big and clean, the staff were very helpful, and the price was great. I don’t see why people blame the resort for not being able to swim in the ocean because of sharks, crocs and stingers. I’m glad those reviews mentioned it. We’re in a part of Australia where they’re common, so do your research rather than complaining about the resort. I also don’t believe anyone is stopping people from swimming. Thank you!
