Bespoke On Main

The apartment was comfortable, nicely furnished and right in the town centre. It had everything we needed for a short stay. The only small hassle was having to wash, dry and put away the dishes before the 10am checkout. It would’ve been nice to just start the dishwasher and have a bit more time in the morning. Still, it was a minor inconvenience, and we’d definitely consider staying again.

The whole experience felt stingy. There were signs telling us to turn lights off, plastic wine glasses in the cupboard in a wine region, and a warning that we’d be charged if everything wasn’t clean and put away before leaving. We usually leave the dishwasher running with the last morning’s dishes. Maybe that’s why it’s expected here, since the dishwasher doesn’t really wash properly. We ran it several times and the knives came out dirty. The listed fireplaces were only decorative and couldn’t be used, but that wasn’t disclosed anywhere, just more signs. There was no cooking or olive oil, salt or pepper either. For a self contained place with cooking facilities, that made cooking or even eating takeaway impossible. Needs improvement!

It’s a lovely, neat place, very tidy and well kept, and exactly as the pictures show. But the welcome felt a bit cold, and the place was quite stark and bare. It could be more inviting and homely, and lacked the feel of a romantic place to stay indoors. There was thick dog hair on the rug and couch, even though the listing said no animals. Maybe the owner sometimes stays with her pet, but it seemed the clean up after the animal was lacking. Luckily we didn’t have an allergy, but if you do, this place may not be for you. A lamp would help too. The only options were bright ceiling lights or darkness, and that glare felt intrusive. Plan to spend your days out and about. We had a lovely weekend exploring Rutherford, which is a lovely town.

Same as others, though we also found three milks that were past their date.
