Bay and Basin

The room was dusty enough to trigger allergy problems for us, and although we raised it with staff several times, they didn't take the concern seriously or do anything proper to fix it. We also asked for fresh towels and bedsheets after use, a normal request, but housekeeping kept questioning why they were damp. We had to explain that we'd showered and used them, and the exchange left us feeling unwelcome. We stayed at the Bay and Basin Hotel for three days, and the service felt poor and unprofessional from the start. We noticed housekeeping being polite and attentive to white guests, asking often if they needed anything. We did not get the same respect or customer care, and felt discriminated against and unfairly treated. This was one of our worst hotel stays. The cleanliness, lack of care, and staff behaviour made it very unpleasant. We wouldn't recommend it to anyone expecting respectful hospitality.

The motel is in a nice spot, with basic services nearby, including a post office, IGA, and Indian and Chinese restaurants. Room service isn't available right away, though, and has to be ordered 24 hours ahead. There are no lifts, so expect about 20 stairs. I'd suggest booking a room with a window for better airflow.

Great location, and the room itself was modest. Mum and I had booked room #2 for a relaxing holiday, since it had a king and single bed so we could sleep separately. When we arrived, the cleaner told us the aircon was broken and leaking, and that the single bed had gotten wet from it. She didn't offer another arrangement, and we didn't ask, so we just shared the king bed.

The hotel is quite nice and in a really good location, and the bed was clean. The toilet, though, was dirty. Reply to the owner: The booking was under my partner's name. We stayed one night, 10/11 Jan this year. Since we arrived around 4pm, it didn't occur to us to call service.
