Sarina Beach Motel

We had lunch at a table overlooking the beach. The food was good, but since we were driving, we asked for soda water. It came from a Soda Stream bottle and was almost flat, so that part wasn’t great.

We used to love coming here for lunch, but after this visit, we won’t be back. The calamari was awful and inedible, the steak ordered rare came well done, and the schnitzels were really dry. Even the chips and gravy were cold. We were all very disappointed.

The pool was closed, and nobody told us when we booked. After almost 10 years of bringing our family here, we’ll be finding a new favourite. We’ve stayed several times and always enjoyed it before, but this weekend was a letdown. While we waited for our room, a young staff member told us rudely in front of other guests that BYO alcohol was allowed on the verandahs only, not in the grassed areas. She said the rules had never changed, though this hadn’t been the case on our earlier stays. We’re happy to follow the new management’s rules, but she could have explained them politely. The way she handled it was embarrassing.

The location is beautiful, though the rooms are very basic and there was no shampoo or anything like that. The plumbing was really noisy. I was glad I stayed only one night.
