Tramway Motel

The room hadn’t been cleaned, and there was dirt, cobwebs and mold in some rooms. The BBQ didn’t work, and bathroom tiles were lifting. When we raised the problems, they dismissed them and acted as if we were the problem.

The rooms aren’t clean, despite the claim that they are. There’s mold in the bathrooms and that needs fixing. This was my first time leaving a poor review, which says a lot. I don’t know if the woman is the owner, but if she is, she was incredibly rude. We booked because the website says it’s pet friendly. We arrived late after a long trip and towing problems, and I told her we’d be there right at closing time, 8pm. She rudely said, “we close at 8pm” and “I’m not staying up until midnight waiting for you.” That’s fair enough, but it’s no way to treat potential paying guests. If we’d had more time, I absolutely wouldn’t have stayed. She took payment over the phone and left the key in the room, so that part went fine. In the morning I went out to buy a few things, with the do not disturb sign on the door. While I was gone, she let herself into our room without knocking or giving notice. Thankfully my partner was clothed, but she really missed basic etiquette. Then, when she realized we had 2 dogs, she rudely confronted my partner and asked why we hadn’t told her. My partner and I are both truly sorry we didn’t follow your protocol. But if you expect guests to follow it, you need to state it on the website, or this will keep happening. And for goodness’ sake, don’t be rude to paying customers, or the reviews will keep coming. I hope you take this advice on board, and I wish you all the best.

Way overpriced for what you get. The rooms are basic and outdated, with no cutlery, plates or cooking facilities, and the only sink was in the bathroom. There was a split in the wall I could see outside through. It was cold and there wasn’t an extra blanket. The old lino floor was stained. Pet friendly doesn’t have to mean basic and dingy. This might be okay as a cheap motel, but not at 5 star rates.

We’d happily stay here again. The service and hospitality were great, and the rooms were top notch for care, attention and maintenance. The price was reasonable for the quality. The trains passing by couldn’t be helped, but they really weren’t anything to worry about. We’d remember to come back and skip the overpriced motels in Mackay. Wishing them all the best. Sarina is definitely getting vibrant, and everyone we met was straight up and down.
