Big River Holiday Park And Ski Lodge

That thoughtful welcome really set the tone. We arrived after reception had closed and found a personalised envelope with our name and all the information we needed. Everyone on staff was so friendly, and the manager was lovely too. The riverside setting is beautiful, with lush, carefully kept grounds and everything spotless. We loved our stay and would happily come back. One of our favourite places so far.

It’s a bit of a drive from town, but well worth it. Saturday was busy with lots of campers and jet boats to watch; by Sunday most people had gone and it was peaceful. The sites are spacious and neatly mown, with some right by the river and lovely views. We stayed two nights at Big4 River Holiday Park and found it clean and very well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made a real difference.

I liked being close to the Clarence River, and the cabin was spacious enough for the two of us, with two bedrooms, a large bathroom and a kitchen that suited our needs. It’s a good place to stay if you water-ski or fish. My husband wasn’t happy with the distance from Grafton or the road there. It took 22 minutes along country roads without streetlights, and he said he wouldn’t drive it at night in case he missed the turnoff. We stayed four nights during the Jacaranda festival. We also didn’t know until we arrived that drinking water needed to be bottled. There are tanks around the park, but my husband boiled that water because he didn’t trust it. The park supplies some bottled water, but not enough, so you need to buy more. They should mention this when you book so you can bring some. I liked the stay overall.

My husband was happy every day, as the fishing was good. The park is quiet and tucked away, though the drive into town is a scenic 15 minutes and easy to follow. We stayed three nights in a River Front Villa and wished we’d booked longer. It was modern, clean and well equipped, with amazing river views and beautifully kept grounds. We’ve stayed at many parks and this is the best yet. We’ll definitely return from the Gold Coast and recommend it to family and friends. Thanks to the lovely staff.
