Chimes Spa Retreat

We chose this place for my wife's birthday because it seemed like the best option around. The complimentary sparkling wine and flowers were a nice gesture, and the stay was good enough, though I expected more. The owner and reception staff could be more proactive about sharing information. The spa staff seemed stressed, and the general atmosphere felt somewhat uninviting.

The sauna and steam room are beautifully designed, but it would have helped to know beforehand that using them costs AUD 120 per hour. Since this is marketed as a spa hotel, we expected access to be included in the stay. The pool was also a letdown: the water was quite dirty, and its covered, glass-enclosed setup didn't feel inviting for relaxing. The house and room are lovely and well maintained, in a very quiet, remote spot. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout.

We meant to book just one day to unwind after a busy week working in hospitality, then added another night because we didn’t want to go. The tub made the cosy room feel extra special, and it smelled lovely. Everything was spotless. Breakfast was a nice touch, and the wine and sweet treats at night were such a treat. Just what we needed for a relaxing weekend. Can’t wait to come back!

My daughter was very disappointed after her body buff and one-hour massage with Kate on Monday. The whole visit, shower included, was over in about an hour and a half, which felt rushed for what she had booked. She filled out the pre-treatment form and specifically asked for her head to be included in the massage, but that area wasn’t touched. She was extremely upset, especially since she’d made her preference clear. The scrub also seemed short, closer to 30 minutes. I’d had outstanding experiences at Chimes Spa before, so I felt comfortable buying this as a gift. Sadly, after this, I won’t buy gift vouchers again.
