Hideaway Haven Bed and Breakfast

We’ll be back for another couples getaway, and maybe a family holiday too. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfy, and the claw bath and beautiful views were lovely. Breakfast was delicious, and the owners were so welcoming with thoughtful attention to detail. 10/10, we’re really happy 😁

I’d strongly advise against booking here. After charging my credit card $330, the owner refused to refund it when he told me to find somewhere else to stay. He said he doesn’t take bookings after 2pm, so why charge my card? I’ve referred the matter to Agoda and my credit card company. I booked two nights at around 6pm, then called just before 8pm to say we wouldn’t arrive until 11pm and ask how we could collect a key. The elderly owner laughed and said it was a joke to book at 6pm and expect any accommodation anywhere in the world to allow an 11pm check-in. When I asked about a night safe, he said he was a one-man show and it was ridiculous to expect any facility to have one. He was extremely rude and belittling, and I believe he was under the influence of alcohol. He said he was entertaining his own guests, then told me, “clearly we are not going to get along so best you find alternative accommodation.” Before I could try to arrange anything, he’d decided I should leave. He called me rude, but deliberately hung up on me twice and refused access to the room I’d booked and paid for in good faith. He’s a con man.

Our hosts were amazing, and thanks to Garth & Marcia, we’re already planning another trip back. This wonderful BnB is the one I’d choose any day over a swanky hotel. Best ever!!!!

The property is beautiful, and Garth is a really kind person.
